What the video says
  1. Set up ArcadeCore · Part 1 of 5 · Install ArcadeCore
  2. What you need
  3. Download the installer and check it
  4. A dry run: see every step first
  5. Install it, then open it
  6. Before you start: a spare PC is enough. 2 cores, 4 GB of memory and a 32 GB SSD, running Linux.
  7. You need Python 3.10 or newer, gpg and curl. These two commands check they're there. No root or sudo is needed at any point.
  8. Step 1: download the installer from arcade-nodes.com. It's one Python file, copied from GitHub every ten minutes.
  9. Step 2: check it before you run it. sha256sum works out the file's fingerprint, a long number that changes if even one byte changes.
  10. Then fetch the same file straight from its public source on GitHub, and work out its fingerprint too.
  11. The two numbers match, so the file you downloaded is the published one. If they ever differ, stop and don't run it.
  12. Step 3: a dry run. It prints every step it would take and changes nothing on your computer.
  13. It starts with the terms. ARCADE is experimental software, provided as is: treat anything you bring into it as something you're ready to lose.
  14. Then it asks how the arcade should start. Full turns every module on. Lite is the crypto core, in the ArcadeCore window. Either can change later.
  15. Type l for Lite. It opens in ArcadeCore.
  16. Each numbered step says what it would do: download Pepecoin Core, write its settings, install the app, and fetch a head start for its index.
  17. Step 4: install it for real. --edition lite answers the question for you.
  18. A real install asks you to agree to the terms. Type y only if you do: anything else stops it, and nothing is installed.
  19. Before it installs Pepecoin Core, it checks the download's checksum and its signature.
  20. The arcade installs as services of your own user, so it starts with the computer. Then it fetches a head start for its index.
  21. Done. Start it with dogecoinarcade, then open http://127.0.0.1:8420 on this machine. It joins the other arcades at once while its own Pepecoin test node catches up.
